Understanding Israel Geo-Politically
"Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen: 7 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.8 But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. 9 For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:"
The term geo-political is a term first used to describe the foreign policy of Germany from 1934 - 1945 and articulated as a rationale for expansionism .. the autocratic ideology coming out of Germany claimed due to economic and political needs and forecasted needs the the empire was compelled to conquer other countries. Ironically this same term is used to describe 2014 on a "macro level" and in the purest sense of the term geo-political which is to react, to make foreign policy in response to a countries geographical location, political framework, economic frame work and demography. The actual implementation of foreign policy will be executed using detailed intelligent "micro level" considerations.
In 2014 Israel will have to make tough decisions and foreign policy regarding their geographical location with enemies directly to their northern border, enemies directly to their eastern border, enemies directly to their southern border and the Mediterranean sea to the west..no where to retreat thus Israel will make a decision factoring in their geography. Politically the functioning 12 political parties with seats in the Knesset many smaller parties not having seats in the Knesset all have their benchmarks regarding what they think Israel should be and will have to find compromise due to the severity of Israel's risk assessment regarding national security and will react politically. The secularist Likud Party, the centrist Kadima Party and the very Orthodox Torah Judaism Party are 3 of 12 seated parties struggling to implement their agendas. Economically Israel will move to protect their economy and will factor in this variable when making decisions in 2014. The United Nations ranks Israel No. 16 of 187 countries using a measurement of Human Development Index (HDI) meaning Israel is considered a "highly developed economy" due to a market economy strategy where prices respond to supply and demand. Israel has worked hard to develop industries such as High-Tech, Diamond Cutting, Petroleum, Natural Gas, Semi-conductor, Tourism and Telecommunications and will do everything to protect their advancement. These achievements did not come easily. Demograhically Israel will make decisions to protect core large segments of their society such as the elderly, children, business community, academia, highly educated, medical community, technology, military and all groups that are core to Israel's prosperity.
Judaism is a peaceful belief system and honors life. For this reason adversaries abuse this tenet of Judaism placing Israel's back against the wall as does uneducated or unrealistic foreign policy. Judaism for the most part excluding Charedim only believes in just wars or defending the nation against destruction. Unfortunately Israel because of its basis in Judaism shows restraint to the detriment of its citizens.
Israel makes decisions geo-politically as a result of their calculations regarding the four aspects of geo-politics.
